Stanford Places Seven On National All-Academic Team
Feb. 26, 2008
After a season of great success on the cross country course, Stanford followed it up by placing seven student-athletes on the USTFCCA All-Academic Team. The national champion women's team led the nation with four honorees, while the men's three selections trailed only North Carolina State. The Stanford women honored were Arianna Lambie, Katie Harrington, Lindsay Allen, and Teresa McWalters. McWalters was the NCAA West Region champ, while Lambie led the Cardinal at the NCAA National Championships with a ninth-place finish. For the men, Hari Mix, Neftalem Araia, and Russell Brown were awarded the same honor. Araia led the Stanford men with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA West Regional Meet, and a 50th-place finish at Nationals. The award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade-point average and have completed a minimum 24 semester hours through the 2007 fall term. Additionally, the student-athlete must finish in the top 15 runners or top ten percent of finishers at their respective NCAA regional meet, or receive All-American honors.
