Three Home Runs Power No. 14 Stanford To 15-4 Victory Over Santa Clara

No. 14 Stanford baseball closed out their regular season schedule at Klein Field in style, using a seven run fifth inning to run away from the Santa Clara Broncos in their 15-4 victory. Brent Milleville, Sean Ratliff and Jason Castro all went deep and seven Cardinal starters recorded hits in the contest. Senior David Stringer (3-1, 4.79 ERA) came in relief to earn the victory and sophomore Alex Rivers (3-3, 5.71 ERA) took the loss after giving up seven earned runs in just a third of an inning.

Milleville's Grand Slam Lifts No. 6 Stanford to 8-5 Victory over California

No. 6 Stanford hoped to avoid getting swept to their bay area rivals on Sunday afternoon and Klein Field and accomplished the task with an 8-5 victory over California to salvage the season finale. Junior first baseman Brent Milleville hit his second career grand slam in the fifth inning to give the Cardinal a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Sophomore Jeffrey Inman (7-2, 3.51 ERA) went 6 2/3 strong innings for the Cardinal and only allowed three earned runs.

No. 6 Stanford baseball dropped their second game in a row 5-2 on Saturday in front of another big crowd of 2,774 at Klein Field. The game featured some missed opportunities for the Cardinal, who couldn't take advantage of two Golden Bear mistakes. Jeff Whitlow led the Cardinal, going 2-2 and threw out Jeff Kobernus at home to end the seventh inning.

No. 6 Stanford baseball gave the capacity crowd a thriller on Friday night, but their comeback in the ninth inning fell short when Charlie Cutler drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the 10th inning. Brent Milleville hit his sixth home run of the season for the Cardinal and Randy Molina finished 2-4 on the evening with an RBI.

Stanford RHP Erik Davis garnered his first Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor Tuesday, the conference announced. Davis, a senior from Mountain View, tossed his fourth straight complete game in Saturday's 6-1 victory over UCLA, helping the Cardinal clinch its eighth weekend series of the 2008 season.
