Former Stanford Standout Scott Bolkan To Play With USL's Portland Timbers

Scott Bolkan, a former defensive standout for the Stanford men's soccer team, will begin his pro career with the USL's First Division Portland Timbers. Bolkan will join a crew of five other defenders that look to improve on the Timbers' second place finish in last year's regular season.

Olson will begin his coaching duties immediately and will fill the spot left by former assistant coach Jon Pascale, who recently accepted a head coaching job with the UC San Diego men's soccer program.

Andrew Kartunen Selected By The Kansas City Wizards in the MLS Supplemental Draft

Redshirt senior Andrew Kartunen was selected as the 11th pick in the fourth round by the Kansas City Wizards in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft. The 6'1-175 pound goalkeeper was the 53rd overall pick. Kartunen is joined by Pat Healy (Towson), Vicente Arze (Mercer), and Tom Gray (Monmouth) as the Wizards' four picks in the draft.
