Stanford Honored With 16 NFHCA Academic Squad Selections



For the second straight season, 16 members of the Stanford field hockey team have been named to the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) National Academic Squad.

STANFORD, Calif.- For the second straight season, 16 members of the Stanford field hockey team have been named to the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) National Academic Squad.

To be recognized as an Academic Squad member a student-athlete has to achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the first semester of the academic year.

This year's honorees include: freshman Heather Alcorn, junior Chloe Bade, senior Madison Bell, freshman Katherine Donner, freshman Julia Druce, freshman Jaimee Erickson, freshman Camille Gandhi, junior Caroline Hussey, sophomore Jennifer Luther, freshman Annika Alexander-Ozinskas, junior Bailey Richardson, sophomore Marlana Shile, sophomore Katherine Swank, freshman Xanthe Travlos, sophomore Midori Uehara and senior Jess Zutz.

Stanford is coming off one of the best years in school history, recording its first winning season in six years at 13-8 overall. The 13 victories rank second all-time in program history and the Cardinal advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000. Led by NorPac Coach of the Year Lesley Irvine and a pair of First Team West Regional All-Americans, Stanford cracked the national rankings for the first time since 2001 and defeated California to claim the NorPac Tournament title.
