Laura Shane Named MPSF Co-Player Of The Week

Cardinal senior recorded 17 saves in the 15-7 loss to No. 3 Maryland

March 24, 2008

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford women's lacrosse All-American goalkeeper Laura Shane was named MPSF Player of the Week Monday, following a 17-save performance in a 15-7 loss to No. 3 Maryland. Shane has now stopped 17 shots on four occasions this season.

Shane, a native of Baltimore, Md., recorded five first half saves and 12 second half saves to keep the Cardinal in the match against the high-powered Terrapin offense. Shane has been in net for every minute of Stanford's nine games, and has recorded a .566 save percentage in that time. This is Shane's third MPSF honor, after winning the award after the season's second weekend and three weeks ago after Stanford's improbable victory over No. 10 Notre Dame.

Stanford heads east this week when they take on William & Mary on Tues, Mar. 25 at 4:00 p.m. The Cardinal are now 6-3 on the season and remain at 3-1 in MPSF conference play.
