Stanford Sweeps Northeast Road Trip



Samatha Buchner won the deciding match in a 5-4 win over Dartmouth

STANFORD, Calif.- The Cardinal women's squash team swept three matches on a weekend road trip to Maine. On Saturday, January 12, Stanford won a pair of matches by the score of 8-1 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and at Bowdoin College in Bowdoin, Maine. Sunday, January 13, the Cardinal completed the perfect road trip by defeating Dartmouth College 5-4.

Stanford handled play for most of Saturday's games as the Cardinal swept 12 of the 16 wins in three games. Stanford was led by junior, Lily Lorentzen, who won swept both of her matches at the #1 position. Overall, eight Stanford players won tow matches on the day.

Sunday proved to a more difficult task as the Cardinal took on Dartmouth. However, Stanford would not be denied a perfect road trip as they edged the Big Green 5-4, when Samantha Buechner held off Becca Louks in five games.

The big weekend improved Stanford's record to 5-1 and solidified their #6 national ranking. Stanford will next play back in the Northeast when they play five games in three days from February 1 through February 3.
